BATTLE SCARS

I wear my scars proudly.
I am not ashamed.
They have not been made in vain.
Proof that I've fought.
I've lived through the pain.

I don't relish acquiring another.
I already have more than four,
but if another scar will further
my battle, why not give me two more?

Lasers, cautery, losing an organ.
Poked, Prodded, and cut with a scalpel.

Slashes on my belly tell the
story of my fight,
and allow me to teach those
who might share the same plight.
